Disaster Relief

“We’re bringing help, hope, and healing while transforming lives with the gospel,” says Dwain Carter, Missions Mobilization Director for Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief.

In the middle of storms, God moves. He calls His people to compassionately respond to those who are most affected, and He moves in the heart of those who are saddened, angry, and lost. It’s in moments like this that the Church has the opportunity and privilege to be the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus.

Comprised of generous credentialed volunteers, Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief is committed to showing the love of Jesus to communities and families affected by disaster events. We offer them hope by meeting practical needs in their lives incurred by the disaster.

Columbus Baptists have a fully stocked Disaster Relief Trailer and a Shower Trailer. These are ready to be deployed in case of a disaster event. Both will be manned by credentialed Columbus Baptist volunteers.

Training/credentialing is required for all persons desiring to become a Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief volunteer. There are five main ministry areas:

Assessment Training
Disaster Relief Introduction
Heavy Equipment Training
IMT/Support Training
Chainsaw School

The next training event being held in Columbus is March 20-21, 2026 at Morningside Baptist Church. Check back with us soon for an update to register. Click here for more information on Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief.
