The receptionist for Mission Columbus is the first point of contact for the guest who enters our
ministry center. Every guest is to be treated with dignity and respect. They should be greeted with a
smile and genuine concern. The receptionist will be responsible for greeting our guest, handing out
proper paperwork, and instructing the guest on how to proceed to the waiting room and needs
assessment area. The receptionist may answer the phone and make appointments if needed.
The Needs Assessment Interviewer will gather information from our guest in an interview room.
Information gathered will be used to keep our database up to date and to determine how we can meet
their needs. After physical needs are met and/or discussed, the Counselor will attempt to share the
gospel. If they are listening and God is working, proceed with the gospel. If the guest is not interested,
don’t force them to sit through a presentation that will only push them further away. If they are one
step closer to Christ when they leave, we have succeeded in keeping the lines of communication
open for the next visit. After the assessment, the interviewer will guide the guest to the next step.
The Mission Columbus Host is a person who can befriend and assist our guests as they walk through
our facility. The Host will help with clothing selections. Your main job is to love our guests and show
them the same mercy and care Jesus shows us. Our desire is for a Host to accompany each guest
through the entire process, folding the clothes into bags at the end.
All clothing is inspected for Mission Columbus use before it is put out for the guests. We search for
holes, missing buttons, stains, and odor. If clothing is to be distributed to our guests, it must meet our
standards. We want to give our best to represent Christ and the gifts He has given us. Receiving,
inspecting, removing store tags, adding our tags, sorting, storing, and finally presenting our clothes
properly on our store racks, is an important job. Though you may not always interact with guests, we
will always present ourselves with the grace as a good witness of the love of God.
The Mission Columbus Host is a person who can befriend and assist our guests as they walk through
our facility. The Host will help with Food selections. Your job is to love our guests and show them
Jesus. Our desire is for a Host to accompany each guest through the entire process. All donated food
items are to be checked in when they arrive. All food is to be thoroughly checked before being placed
on the shelf for our guests to receive.
There are many needs that arise from time to time that don’t fit into one of the above slots. This may
include unloading food or furniture, organizing storage spaces, cleaning, etc.
