Going
Jesus said, “ Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen (Matthew 28:19-20).” And Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).” And Jesus said, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you (John 20:21).” And Jesus said, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8).” Paul then asked a series of questions: “For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things (Romans 10:13-15)!’” And we hear God Himself as us the most pointed question through the lips of Isaiah, saying, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’ And He said, ‘Go, and tell this people… (Isaiah 6:8-9a).”
That is our only proper response: Here am I! Send me. Therefore, the Columbus Baptist Association offers churches the opportunity to partner together to reach across the street and across the sea.
